IDing Agave seedlings - Xeric World Forums
Now the seedlings are ready to be put in individual pots but only three kinds are still labeled: Agave toumeyana, Agave neomexicana, Agave utahensis ssp. I'm a member of the local Master Gardener association, and about 2 years ago I planted a number of pots of agave seeds, the species being ones that should survive winters here (7B acording to the USDA, 8A according to the Arbor Day Foundation. One pot has seedlings with very broad leaves that have prominent marginal teeth - I would guess these are Agave parryi. Anyway, I was not the only one there, pots got moved around and labels got lost. Ones not labeled could be chrysantha, parryi v. couesii, lecheguilla, mckelveyana, utahensis ssp utahensis or havardiana. my experience is that 8A is indeed the case). kaibabensis and Agave palmeri.
